Chapada Diamantina is a natural beauty that seems to have emerged straight from a dream. Established in 1985, Chapada Diamantina National Park in Brazil celebrates 40 years of preservation this year. Located in the heart of the state of Bahia, the park is one of the most impressive ecotourism destinations, covering approximately 152,000 hectares of inspiring landscapes.
The park is famous for its waterfalls, caves, canyons and imposing mountains. Among the highlights is the 340-metre-high Cachoeira da Fumaça—one of the highest in Brazil. A curious phenomenon occurs on windy days: the water is thrown upwards, creating a stunning visual effect. Another must-see is Mount Pai Inácio, famous for its panoramic views and unforgettable sunsets.
Besides the lush nature, the region has a rich history linked to the diamond boom of the 19th century, which gave rise to the name 'Chapada Diamantina.' Villages like Lençóis enchant with their colonial architecture, vibrant culture and Bahian hospitality. Ideal for hikers, adventurers and nature lovers, the park is a true national treasure.
