Venice Skatepark, Los Angeles, California
Unlike its Italian namesake, Venice in California is not known for canals and quaint cobblestone streets. It is, instead, a skateboarder's paradise. Located next to the sun-kissed shores of Venice Beach, the Venice Skatepark stands as a testament to the rich history of skateboarding in the state.
Established in 2009, the park was the result of years of efforts by residents, spearheaded by Venice skating legend Jesse Martinez. Today, it features a plethora of challenging ramps, bowls, and rails that cater to skaters of all skill levels. But Venice Skatepark is not just for the locals. Its unique oceanfront setting has turned it into a destination where spectators can enjoy the beach while watching native and visiting skaters as they backside tailslide into a 360 pop shove-it before dropping into a bowl to nail an eggplant.
