Porto Timoni beach, Greece
Porto Timoni Beach, situated on the northwestern coast of Corfu, Greece, is a captivating destination with natural allure. Accessible through a scenic hiking trail from the historic village of Afionas or by boat, this hidden gem offers two stunning coves, forming a unique double beach experience. With crystalline turquoise waters and dramatic cliffs, Porto Timoni presents a picturesque coastal panorama. Surrounding the beach, lush olive groves and cypress trees add to the enchanting ambiance. Though the Greek islands, like Corfu, may seem timeless and ancient, they're relatively new in the history of the Earth. A leading theory is that around 5.3 million years ago, a great flood poured in between Africa and Europe from the Atlantic Ocean in an event called the Zanclean Flood. Lakes became oceans, and what were previously mountaintops became islands.
